Like culture, gravity is an invisible force that brings mass objects together and keeps our feet on common ground.
The way Chrysi Philalithes, the former CMO of Bono’s (RED) non-profit, describes it, when we enter a new organization for the first time, it’s kind of like moonwalking. I really dig that. We’re sort of just bouncing around as we walk the organization’s surface before our feet are planted—or normalized.
This astronaut walk helps us simultaneously move about the company, but also test its limits with new perspectives.
Super powerful.
I write about this in greater detail on my Substack here.
FROM THE CULTURE:
Amanda Slavin and I invited Chrysi and Dario Calmese (Vogue cover photographer) onto the FROM THE CULTURE PODCAST to explore the metaphor of gravity and perspective further.
Check out the full episode here on Spotify or wherever you get your podcast.
WHERE I’VE BEEN:
I spent some time with the folks at Kimberly-Clark in Chicago, talking the “front stage” and “backstage” of culture, and what it means when engaging the Loch Ness Monster that is Gen Z in the office and the shopping aisles.
